Leadership Opportunities

Students in Grades 5-8 have the opportunity to participate in Student Government.  Elections are held in early September allowing students the chance to run for a position as a representative or a leadership position.  Student Government meets monthly with staff facilitators to plan for events such as school dances, snack sales at evening special events, dress-down days and more. 

The SMS Buddy Program is a unique way for students across the PreK-Grade 8 span to learn, play and work together.  Our older students and their younger buddies share hands-on projects and activities, attend Mass together and even do service projects together.  Our older students serve as role models for our young students and together they forge bonds that last beyond the school year.  Our Buddy Program is at the heart of who we are as a Saint Mary School Family.

SMS Middle School students are invited to be a part of the SMS Yearbook Club.  Working with our Yearbook Coordinator, students in our yearbook club gain skills in photography, writing, editing, graphic design and more.
