Getting to Know Irene Eide – Middle School Religion and French Teacher

My name is Irene Eide, and I am so happy to be joining Saint Mary School as the middle school religion and French teacher! I have been an SMS parent for three years, and I am thrilled about becoming more involved in this wonderful community.I grew up in Florence, Alabama, and graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont, where I studied political science, classics, and Italian. Following graduate work at Boston College, I taught theology and history at Montrose School, an independent Catholic school in the Boston area. After starting a family, I continued working with middle and high school students as an academic and test prep tutor.

As a religion teacher, I hope to help students grow in faith by deepening their understanding of Church teaching and exploring the rich Catholic heritage of the sacred arts. In the foreign language classroom, I aim to give students a solid foundation in grammar and vocabulary while expanding their knowledge of French history and culture.I look forward to returning to the classroom and sharing my love of learning with the middle school students!
