Getting to Know Stephanie Smith – Kindergarten Teacher
Dear Saint Mary School Families,
I am so excited and honored to be returning to the education world and joining the Saint Mary School family as the new Kindergarten teacher. After receiving my Masters Degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education, I began teaching preschool in New York and fell in love with my “job.” In addition to my work in early childhood education I have been a substitute teacher in the Ridgefield Public Schools. Being an educator has never felt like work to me because I am passionate about teaching. Being able to be a part of a child’s life and help create and build their foundation for learning was always my focus. Children are like sponges and absorb everything they are shown, taught and exposed to. Becoming a teacher has provided me an opportunity to help guide children and help them grow. If I can make even the smallest of difference in a child’s life, that’s an accomplishment in itself.
I left the world of education when I became a mother and made the decision to stay home to raise my own children. Becoming a mother has helped me to grow as a teacher in many ways. I am so eager to return to the classroom and help make a difference in each child’s life and future any way I can. I am also so excited that my own children will be joining the SMS community as students this year! It is going to be a new and exciting year for the whole family!
With gratitude,
Stephanie Smith
