Getting to Know Caitlin Trutt – New SMS Grade 3 Teacher

My name is Caitlin Trutt, and I am thrilled to introduce myself as the third grade teacher for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. I am so excited to be joining the Saint Mary community!

I graduated from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, New York in 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in English, as well as a dual concentration in childhood and special education. After becoming certified and spending some time subbing for the Newburgh school district, I moved back to my hometown in Trumbull, CT. I spent the 2023-2024 school year in various long-term substitute positions, and finished the year as a building substitute in Fairfield. I’ve had the pleasure of working for all types of communities, with students of all ages and abilities. The mentors I’ve worked with at each school have heavily influenced me as an educator and I am looking forward to collaborating and learning from the talented educators at SMS.

I am passionate about providing my students with a well-rounded education. I strive to have a positive influence on my students’ lives as well as give them the necessary tools they need to succeed in the future. My hope for my students is that each and every one feels as though they have equal opportunities for success in my class. As a creative person, I love making learning interactive and fun! It makes me so happy to see my students thinking in new ways and enjoying their time at school.

Outside of school, I keep myself busy by painting, cooking new recipes, and reading. I also like to take my dog, Rudy, on nature walks by our house! I love music and baseball and have spent my summer at some concerts and Mets’ games. I look forward to beginning this school year and working within the SMS community. Until then, I hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing final few days of summer vacation.
